First things first. This is a hydro dipped finish, not clear coated. To my knowledge, hard hats cannot be painted without "compromising it's structural integrity" according to "law". That being said, this is an awesome product. The design looks badass and has been a conversation starter all over the jobsite. I've had no issues with wearing it for 10+ hours. One more time, it is HYDRO DIPPED. It will scratch, it will eventually rub off and it will eventually look like crap. BUY ANOTHER ONE! If you're worried about scratches, this hard hat is not for you. In fact, you should probably reconsider your line of work and apply at starbucks.Sincerely, Journeyman Electrician from Texas.
